[mythtv-users] Unsuccessful compile

Friends, I'm stumped. I've read the documentation and I've searched both 
the mythtv site and Google without finding an answer. I hope you can help.

I'm trying to install mythtv on a SuSE 9.0 box. I believe I've installed 
all the prerequisite software. MySQL is running. Per the documentation I 
run ./configure, qmake mythtv.pro, then make. Make errors out on 
libavcodec. A posting here in June suggested removing -fPIC from the 
Makefile in the libavcodec directory. When I do that, libavcodec goes fine, 
but I get a slew of other errors from libmyth.

Any suggestions for what I might try to put things right? Thanks for your help.
