The Hauppauge receivers only work with RC-5 protocol remotes; most typically, 
Philips remotes (or universal remotes programmed as Philips).  It's likely 
that the Tivo remote is not RC-5; if not, it will never work with the 
Hauppauge IR receiver.  Search the list archives for some of my previous 
comments on the quirks of Hauppauge IR receivers.
