That's not my understanding. I was told by multiple people that for irxevent 
focus to properly return to mythvideo the focus policy must _not_ be set to 
'focus follows mouse'. Something with having to do with the interation of the 
code that sets focus by raising the window and the window manager settings.

If it's really user's choice and doesn't matter, that's news to me. I got lazy 
and instead of fixing the problem I just stopped using metacity and switched 
to a much lighter window manager. I'm just echoing what I was told by JAC and 
others.
