The ATI TV-Wonder VE that I have is effectively mono.  It passes to
the sound card the same data on both audio tracks.  Dolby Surround is
gone, stereo is gone.  It's noticeable to me too.  My ReplayTV records
some programs which I download to my myth box; I can hear the Dolby
Surround effects on my rear speakers there.
