[mythtv-users] Lirc - AverTV Studio

Hello all, 

I have a AverTV Studio Card and I am trying to get the remote to work with it.  I have followed all of the instructions in the MythTV Documentation, but I am not sure if this is working right or not.

Question:

/dev/lirc -> ttyS0

Is this correct?  The documentation says to change it to 

mknod /dev/lirc c 61 0

But, when I do this lirc will not start up.
BTTV detected my card as a TVPhone98 Card type 41

Now, when it is 

/dev/lirc -> ttyS0

it starts up fine, and when I do a lsmod I see 

bttv    74176 0 (autoclean) [lirc_gpio]

If at this point I run irw, it runs, but it will not show anything.....(no commands from the remote)  

Should it?  Is this working properly....Some guidance would be great here, as I am lost as what to do next. 

BTW:  Everything else is working great, just no remote right now.  --- and I am using patched audio, that is the next step....
