What a REALLY friendly chap you are ;-)
I'm just trying to learn here and you are already having a heart attack.
As I read it the sourceforge VeXP project files doesn't not contain the
mpeg2 source, but relies on the correctly installed binary driver from
VIA. The mpeg2 lib is binary with a special videodev.h headerfile from
Alan Cox. I guess that is why the VeXp is only available for
redhat/mandrake/suse as that is the only distros they are supplying
binary drivers for for the CLE266 chipset.
The drivers source you get when you sign up with VIA OpenSourceComunity
does not contain the mpeg2 source either and you have to sign an NDA
with VIA sales to get this... They do encourage the community as you
say, but it's above my capabilities and maybe I do misread things, but
it sounds like it wouldn't be so easy to use the mpeg2 code anywhere
else. This was also the impression I got after an email exchange with
VIA's opensource liaison guy in Taiwan. I do hope I'm wrong and hope
for all us epai owners that we get access to the mpeg2 capabilities.
I'm sorry if I've offended you tender personality with my stupidity,
but quite frankly your language is not quite appropriate in a civilized
dialogue.
