[mythtv-users] OT: Digital-cable devices could hit retail

Sorry of the OT posting, but I thought this was of interest.  Looks like the
door may soon be opened to digital cable without a set-top box... meaning no
more worrying about IR-blasters or serial control cables!  Or, the
possibility of buying an inexpensive STB for your legacy equipment (TVs, V4L
cards) that is guaranteed serial- or USB-controllable.  I'm not holding my
breath, but if I could get the proprietary STB out of the equation, I might
actually consider upgrading to digital cable.
