[mythtv-users] Some Install questions

System is ASUS Pundit, WinTV-radio (401) bt878 card, Redhat 9, manual 
installation, myth-0.10

1) Running mythtv - entire screen goes black. Seems like I have to 
Ctrl-Alt-Backspace to exit X-Windows to get my screen back. Running 
mythfrontend and selecting instant recording the mini-TV preview window is 
all black. The rest of the screen is okay. Running xawtv -xv works fine.

2) xmltv 0.5.15 is failing to (tv_grab_na --configure) with HTTP 500: 
Internal Server Error. Wondering if this is a problem with zap2it or my 
perl setup. A manual visit to the website and entered my zip code yields a 
channel listing. When I attempted to update HTML::Parser from CPAN during 
the install it fails the tests.

3) When using either the default SIS XFree driver (SIS 651) or the one from 
winischhofer site results in hard hangs or hard reboots of X (This took a 
long time to track down). The boots are most prevalent when running Mozilla 
and when multiple windows are on the screen. Very odd. VESA generic is 
okay. I will eventually need SIS for TV-OUT however.

I don't want to mess with 'apt-get' or RPM installs because I want to 
understand what it on my system and possibly contribute to development.

I have not messed with installation of ALSA sound driver yet (SiS962 [SiS 
7012]). But I wouldn't think sound problems would produce all black video- 
would it?

Any troubleshooting ideas?
