I finally had a little bit of time this weekend to play around with
this... I upgraded my build VM to Slackware 13.37 and afterwards I was
able to successfully compile. Of course, I can't run the resulting
binaries on my Myth box since 13.37 has newer versions of all the
libraries (main box is on Slackware 13.0)

Then I rolled back the VM to pre-upgrade and have tried updating only
the kernel packages (kernel proper and includes) and I'm trying to
compile again. Hopefully this will do the trick, but if not then I may
have to find some time to upgrade the main PVR to 13.37... which might
not be a bad idea anyway.
