If it were just one-time, no problem, but FTA channels are not static. 
Changes happen often.

Perhaps a hidden sub-fix to the channun that would make it unique if the 
scanner sees a dupe would work. It could start at 00 and increase one 
with each dupe channel.
 first channel stored as:   100   displayed as:   1
          second stored as:   101                             1

You could then be able to scroll thru all channels without editing the 
numbers first and could prefix the channels later.
Sounds like something for .21
