2.6, using the onboard sound too. I agree I've had some awful problems with 
VIA on a different brand mainboard before however in this boards credit it 
has been absolutely rock solid with MythTV, apart from this particular 
problem.

I'll try combing through the code a bit more today and see if I can find 
anything. I found after I posted there'd been a few other people with 
similar symptoms. If all else fails I guess it will be a mainboard swap :(
