The problem, as others have pointed out, is that Myth would rather
schedule a program into a subsequent showing rather than onto another
card. OTOH some people do have different types/qualities of card and
therefore want real priorities, and want to tell myth whether it's
more important to get a show onto a high-quality card or get it recorded
ASAP.
Let's say I have two PVRs and then some low-quality cards -- how can
I tell myth that it should use both PVRs as fully as possible, but only
use the low-qual cards in limited circumstances? Just using the cardid
is not sufficient .. Even worse, if I later add another PVR to this
device I'd have to reset ALL my card settings in order to put the new
PVR card into a lower card-id than your existing set of cards.
Adding a 'quality' setting to the card would solve all this problem so
you can prioritize based on the card quality instead of the cardid, and
allows you to make better scheduling decisions independent of the order
in which the user enters the card information.
