I completely agree.  It is factors such as these that would make an
ANN easy to train.  Unfortunately we don't have access to the known
"algorithm" per channel so we cannot easily do any sort of supervised
learning.  Of course, we could just sit down and watch a single
channel for a day and record the length of each commercial break, what
time it occurred, what channel etc. in order to get the training data
we need.
