Maybe you should exit instead of just printing a message. Mythtv is 
unusabel without audio anyway  (from a technical viewpoint I mean) and it 
would save a lot of people - including yourself - probably quite a lot of 
time figuring out the audio _was_ important. The first two weeks I thought 
(as a lot of people seem to do): "lets concentrate on getting the video 
working first, audio will follow later".

Even though the documentation has started and improved a lot since then, an 
exit() with a "mythtv cannot work without full duplex audio (really, I mean 
it!!!)"-message would probably be the only documentation which is read by 
all...
