I am somewhat confused by your mention of using 0.7 across a network
(that version does not have separate front & backend programs).
Regardless, I had "chipmunk" sound when using a mono sound source with
0.7. See the mailing list archives & CVS logs for info about the
"mono patch" which was post-0.7. In my case, I solved it by moving to
the CVS version. (I was using a WinTV Go and the btaudio on that
card. Even after fixing the chipmunk problem, the btaudio device on
that card seems to be lousy--the sound was terrible. I gave up on
btaudio and switched to using the passthrough from the WinTV card to
my sound card.)
