 Yep, this should be fairly easy to fix.

 I think I might pop-up "CC - ?" right away also to make it clear that you
 have entered an entry mode, and then fade it out when the entry mode timer
 expires.

 What is happening is that after entering the teletext page selection mode
 the user never hits select or 'T' again so they remain in this mode until
 they type in a page and select it later when they actually intend to
 change channels. There is supposed to be a timer that expires after a
 little while to prevent someone from accidentally being in page selection
 mode, and the teletext page selection mode should probably be visually
 indicated as well.
