Thanks for the explanation.  I normally just add the ppa repository to
apt and install that way.  It was really an accident that I got v34
installed on Ubuntu 24.04 when I was testing.  I just forgot to add
the ppa before I did the apt install mythtv. I'll not forget that
again.
