A program stuck in the recording state is uaually usually due to a
recorder being in a bad state.  I suppose it's also possible an
unexpected sequence of events with a slave backend might cause
something similar but I've never seen it.

If your backend is still in this state, attache to it with gbb and get
a stack trace.  I believe there are directions for doing so on the web
site or in the wiki.  Once you have that, please create a new bug
ticket and include the stack trace and all backend logs for the
covered time period.
