You can calculate the amount needed for one screenshot:
hres x vres x coldepth
For instance: 3840 x 2160 x 256 = 2025 Mbit or 253 Mbyte
As opposed to: 1920 x 1080 x 16 = 31,6 Mbit or 3,96 Mbyte
So I guess you need at least 512 Mb video memory, but better 1 or 2
Gbytes or even more.
