The swapping cables was a good suggestion!  Are we certain the composite 
input of the monitor is good?  Assuming that, there are adapters to 
convert one signal format to another; just be careful of the 
'direction': a 'HDMI to Composite adapter' is not the same as a 
'Composite to HDMI' one.

...Just thought of this: have you tried power booting?  Sometimes the 
stuff 'gets confused' and stops working for no good reason.
