I'm stubborn? <g>  Part of the reasoning was learning: there /has/ to be 
a way to install "old" software on a new operating system.  Looking 
around I wasn't the only one with this issue, though I wasn't able to 
find a solution that worked here. In hindsight the solutions would have 
worked, just I was missing or not understanding a step.

As for using Bionic Beaver, I had tested on a Virtual Machine on this 
computer (running Jammy Jellyfish) a few nights ago.  Worked fine.  
Figured I'd keep that option as a last resort.  No real reason the other 
computer (the one with Jammy Jellyfish and v31) couldn't be run under 
Bionic Beaver.
