My MacBook Pro 2012 with Core i7 plays back using MPEG2 ffmpeg decoding with ~25% CPU usage in Activity Monitor. Shows just how much a jump Core Architecture is over Core2Duo (and saw relatively little improvement from then until Apple Silicon in 2020).
