Also check your RAM - start with reseating.  Run the short MemTest+ 
check to see if any issues, if not run the extended option.  I had an 
issue a couple years back where one stick was bad, but only showed the 
error on the extended test.  Before I found the bad RAM stick the 
computer usually worked fine, but then suddenly locked up for what 
seemed like no good reason.
