[mythtv-users] mythtv on Desktop vs Nvidia Shield

Hello,

I have a 100mbps IPsec connection between the Mythtv server and the client
side. On the client side i have Mythtv running on Arch linux, Mythtv on
Nvidia Shield, Mythtv leanfront on Nvidia Shield and Kodi with Mythtv PVR
plugin on Nvidia shield.

This is what i found:

1. Mythtv on Desktop: Startup time reasonable but Video experience very
poor (very slow framerate). Consumes 2mbps of traffic
2. Mythtv on Nvidia Shield: Startup time very slow (few seconds), but
LiveTV plays well with occasional frame freeze. Consumes  18mbps
3. Leanfront on Nvidia Shield: Startup time quick and plays recorded TV
well. Consumes 118mbps on video start but settles at 40mbps.
4. Kodi with Mythtv PVR addon: Startup time quick and plays LiveTV with
lots of buffering (unusable). Consumes 8mbps

What is native MythTV on Nvidia Shield doing well for LiveTV which other
clients are not?
