I'm also using a Shield TV from a year ago, not the pro.  I agree with 
your statement about the Shield TV being a great Frontend. For my 
recordings sometimes the Raspberry Pi 4 is a little better, but mostly 
the Shield TV is better.  Really depends on the action sequences.

I'm running the latest version 60 of the Mythtv 30 on my Shield TV.  
Since I have a v30 backend can I use the version 31 on the Shield TV???
