this device has a firewire port.

Aside from my first cable box which used a 9-pin serial port, I've been
using firewire and 6200ch <https://www.mythtv.org/wiki/6200ch> to change
channels, which has worked well for me both on Comcast and Verizon.  I
get a bit more confidence with this method as opposed to something
air-gapped like an IR blaster.
