[mythtv-users] Scan ... again

One last bit of magic happens. Can somebody explain please.

My tidy is almost complete and everything is neat, almost ..

When I look at the video libary in mythtv all is as expected except there is only ONE video shown (at top level) for 

WhatsThis.avi
The			# a left over fumble from copying no doubt from “names with spaces”
1009_20170812134500_7280.ts

Two videos must be duplicated in my hierachy
One video is named “Anna Karina …”
I just went back to check the name and it is now named 1009_20170812134500_7280.ts

I’ve done nothing that I recall (like scanning) but meta data giving the title must have been automatically picked up.
Even worse during my to-and-fro to tidy up I briefly had a display that showed

[picture] Anna Karina Lots of words

I was doing other stuff and ignored it until it was too late
[after John's suggestion of scanning an empty folder I was plagued with [image not found] information windows scrolling down the mythtv screen until mythfilldatabase had been run]

Clearly there is lots happening. I can’t find anything on the wiki that explains the video library in detail for naive users.

Anybody, even pointers to how the whole meta data bit works.
