I have my MythTV 29 backend configured to use the network proxy here
and as you can see, it's properly in the mythbackend's environment:

# ps -ef | grep backend
mythtv   28709     1  2 08:52 ?        00:00:00 /usr/bin/mythbackend --syslog local7 --user mythtv --daemon --verbose record,channel
# tr '\0' '\n' < /proc/28709/environ  | grep -i proxy
https_proxy=http://proxy:3128/
http_proxy=http://proxy:3128/

However, when my backend goes to actually record from an HLS stream, it
complains about the proxy:

Feb 28 09:18:50 pvr mythbackend: mythbackend[28709]: E TVRecEvent iptvtuningdata.h:251 (IsHLSPlaylist) IsHLSPlaylist - Open Failed: No suitable proxy found#012#011#011#011https://cbclivedai5-i.akamaihd.net/hls/live/567235/event2/CBOT/master1.m3u8

Any thoughts?

Cheers,
b.
