But did you try changing your decoder to Standard?  It's quite likely 
their new encoder is doing things differently, but that doesn't mean 
it's doing things wrong.  It may well be that your decoder (VDPAU) may 
not handle their encoding properly.  You can still use VDPAU rendering 
even if you don't use VDPAU decoding. Just change the decoder in the 
Playback Profile to Standard and see if it works.  FWIW, I've been 
running with Standard decoding and VDPAU rendering ever since VDPAU went 
in specifically because some of my channels have artifacts when decoded 
with VDPAU.  So, if you happen to have channels/video that don't decode 
properly with VDPAU, and if you have a sufficiently-powerful CPU to use 
FFMPEG for decoding, using Standard decoding with VDPAU rendering gives 
you the best of both worlds--great decoding that doesn't show visual 
artifacts ("Just Works") /and/ the best video rendering available on 
GNU/Linux.
