My personal experience with a single 7200 RPM SATA 2 Seagate Barracuda 1
TB hard drive is that 4 ATSC HD programs can be recorded at once with no
loss of data.

I have two Hauppauge HVR 2250s and in my testing three tuners were
recording 1080i content and one was recording 720p content.

When I also tried to view a recording from the same drive at the same
time I experienced an occasional pause in playback. However, no tuner
recordings were lost.

Complete details of the hardware I selected back in 2011 can be found at
the following link:

Selecting Hardware for a MythTV PVR

Note that I chose relatively powerful hardware, and it is quite likely
that one could get by with a much less powerful computer for use as a
MythTV PVR.
