[mythtv-users] Another AppleTV Option

I recently installed MrMC on my Apple TV 4.   It’s a version of Kodi that I
was surprised to see available in the app store.  I really like the MythTV
app that’s been around since the launch of the AppleTV 4, but this app has
some advantages.

It supports MythTV via the Kodi DVR plugins.   It’s really easy to set up,
and I found it to work quite well.

- Playback is a little better than the MythTV app store app.   Skip ahead
has lots of macro blocking in the MythTV app, and is quite good in MrMC.
- It supports Live TV (not something I use, but it’s important to some)
- UX is a little better than the native Kodi —  Exit/Escape works as
expected in AppleTV.
- MrMC seems to be actively maintained, the MythTV app hasn’t been updated
in quite a long time.
-MrMC supports Kodi features (HDHomerun integration,  play videos from your
file shares, etc. etc.)

It’s not perfect..  I’m still trying to figure out some basic operations
like deleting a recording.   But, for good playback within AppleTV, it
looks like a really good option.
