[mythtv-users] Format woes

Hi All
a while ago I recorded OTA a documentary.
Since my samsung TV chokes on .ts (and others) I used ffmpeg to change
the container to avi keeping the audio and video codecs as copy.
The file plays correctly.

I tried to edit a section and was rewarded with all manner of chaos:

VLC plays the file
avidemux loads it, no complaints, duration is correct but display is blank.
shotcut loads it and plays it but will not edit or transfer to timeline.

It may or may not be related but mytharchive hangs for minutes and does
nothing. (I now cannot set archive settings and am not sure if it
relates in any way)

The probe info looks ok to me. Can anybody see anything
Thanks
James
