If it like Peter says should work out of the box, there must be a
device node in /dev/input. One of the eventx nodes. To check them use:
udevadm info --attribute-walk --name=/dev/input/eventx, where x is one
of the present numbers. If there is no eventx node for the device, you
are missing the kernel driver. In that case check your boot log for
the moment the device is detected and whether there is something about
missing drivers or load failures.

Key-mappings are in /etc/rc_maps.cfg and /etc/rc_keymaps/
