Okay. I will try to explain what is going on. I now know this is not a
hardware issue.
Last night I was watching a program on live tv that really exhibited the
problem. Watching the screen I noticed a pattern to the pixilation. The
distortion kind of appeared as letter or numbers. So I paused the screen
and noticed that the area of distortion exactly matches the pattern of the
“theme layout”

(The distortion was occurring where the name of my turner is displayed at
the top of the screen)
I currently use the mythbuntu theme. So I switched themes. The live tv
distortion area changed with the theme being used.

So I guess what is happening is that the underlying “theme layout” is
bleeding through to the live tv image.
I dont know how to exactly explain this. Hopefully what I am saying will
make sense to someone???
One other note. Using the normal option under playback instead of vdpau
also makes the distortion disappear.
Can I gather more information somehow that might further help figure out
what is going on?

Should I post over on the forums so I can upload some pictures?
