Is Squeeze old enough that even the perlbrew approach suggested in
http://article.gmane.org/gmane.comp.tv.xmltv.devel/11266
will struggle dependencies wise?

Looks like perlbrew itself is not in Squeeze, but maybe it would
install from source?

Anyhow, the person posting their was able to install a newer version of
Perl and the XMLTV deps without disrupting their system Perl install,
which, if it works for you, might be one way out.
