[mythtv-users] Verizon Fios QIP7100 2 occasionally turns itself off, 6200ch always thinks it's on

Hi folks,

I've got Fios w/ a Motorola QIP7100 2 box. Rarely (maybe once every
month or two) my recordings come up black, and I notice that the box is
powered off.

I figured that I could just use 6200ch to check the power status and
turn it on when necessary. Either periodically or every time that
6200ch is invoked, depending on how quickly it operates.

The problem is that 6200ch only includes a power toggle option (as
opposed to a "power on" option). This feature (the -w flag) does work,
and I can see the power light toggle. However, when using the query
option for 6200ch (-q), it always says that the power is on. For example:

$ /usr/local/bin/6200ch.bin -g a47aa4fffe56fdb7 -q -v
starting with node: 0
node 0: vendor_id = 0x00a47aa4 model_id = 0x00008501
AV/C command for power query = 0x01FFB27F
  (c) 0xcffb270
Power is on

I have two questions at this point:

1) Does anybody have an idea of what might cause the QIP7100 to
occasionally turn off? Sleep mode is disabled in the STB settings.

2) Does anybody know why 6200ch is always reporting that the box is on,
when all other evidence indicates otherwise.

Thanks
-WD
