Good call, thanks. Given these constraints I'd definitely be better off looking elsewhere.

Unfortunately, dosn't look like it. The STB is a Humax PR HD 3000. While it does have ethernet it seems tob e only used for downloading/streamin and doesn't provice any ontrol interfaces.
Contol alone wouldn't be helpful as the "missing piece" ist he information "I need an access pin now". Actually sendimg that pin works just fine.
No serial, No firewire. There are many, many threads on the stbs support forum regarding the requirement for the acccess pins; many users asked how to permanently disable these since there are no kids in their household - answer by the provider is allways the same: not possible, a visitor might bring a kid so pin is allways required.
So far, I'm stuck at the point that I really need to look fort he pop-up image to determine if a pin is required.
