Did you check the system log on the HDHR3-CC?

Since the current recorder (essentially) just waits for
network traffic, if the device restarted/rebooted and
stopped sending data, the recorder would likely not
notice, but a restart of the tuner would (usually) be
noted in the tuner logs (mostly indirectly from the
"system restart" message).

There have been proposals (but no code) to utilize
the more advanced capabilities of the current
generation of HDHR devices which could (at least
in theory (note the no code part)) notice if the tuner
dropped the TCP connection (it could in theory
also share better (but note the no code part)).
