hi Lawrence,
happy new year :)

I've conducted some more testing, and generated log files

Test clips (notes for repeatability),
- MPEG2 TV stream at SD stereo (big bang theory)
- MPEG2 TV stream at "HD" ac3 (brokeback)
- h264 with dts (this is the end)
- h264 3d with dts (captain america)

This Pi has licences for mpeg2 and wvc1, installed and verified. It's
also using an edid file to force 1080p video

When audio set to -
1) OpenMax-HDMI Stereo, no AC3 no DTS
(mythtv_log_openmax_hdmi_01_stereo_160101.log)
Both tv clips fail to play audio
2) OpenMax-HDMI 5.1, no AC3 no DTS
(mythtv_log_openmax_hdmi_02_51_160101.log)
Both tv clips fail to play audio
3) OpenMax-HDMI 5.1, with AC3 with DTS
(mythtv_log_openmax_hdmi_03_51_ac3dts_160101.log)
SD tv stereo clip fails to play audio
HD tv ac3 5.1 clip audio plays ok !!
4) OpenMax-HDMI 5.1, with AC3 with DTS
(mythtv_log_openmax_hdmi_04_51_ac3dts_dtscontent_160101.log)
3d h264 video with DTS ... unwatchable and no sound (captain america)
HD h264 video with dts .... unwatchable ... but sound works !!
(this is the end)

Unwatchable means the video stutters really really badly and
sound stutters too (if audible)

The startup command is supplied as mythtv.sh (note, only the last log
file name is embedded)
