Well, I tried to run
perl /usr/share/doc/mythtv-docs/contrib/maintenance/optimize_mythdb.pl, but
after the optimisation alas as anticipated there is no joy. It was a great
thought though, please keep them coming! :)

Good morning!How you are all well. I have recently updated my system by
reinstalling. I used the mythbuntu 16.04 64bit iso and fully patched the
system post install.I've not seen this issue before, the system works fine
if I boot with the TV on but when I turn off the monitor or switch it to
another input and then return the TV is blank with no signal reported.I'm
using an Intel integrated graphics and i3 fourth genI have tried to get X to
create a config file but X is refusing:

To better understand this. I did a new fresh install of Mythbuntu 14.04.4
and then did the updates and dist-updates until It wanted no more updates.

I notices the following when I login via terminal session:
Welcome to Ubuntu 14.04.5 LTS (GNU/Linux 4.2.0-42-generic x86_64)

 * Documentation:  https://help.ubuntu.com/

WARNING: Security updates for your current Hardware Enablement Stack ended
on 2016-08-04:
 * http://wiki.ubuntu.com/1404_HWE_EOL

There is a graphics stack installed on this system. An upgrade to a
configuration supported for the full lifetime of the LTS will become
available on 2016-07-21 and can be installed by running 'update-manager'
in the Dash.

Last login: Sun Aug 21 09:12:32 2016 from jamess-mbp-2.domain
jim at mythbuntu:~$ uname -rm 4.2.0-42-generic x86_64

It?s also running X.Org X Server 1.17.2

So I assume the kernel and X will remain at the level I need unless I choose
the update mentioned above.

I came upon an Android app called SSH button.

Basically it lets you create a simple button with complicated SSH commands.
Great for family or SO's.

It's a workaround till a real fix is available. But works well.

Hope it helps

Hi,

Oh, I'll have a look at that app... sounds interesting.

I have set a crontab that executes a one-line script of
 DISPLAY=:0 xrandr --output HDMI2 --mode "1920x1080"
crontab is set to run every minute.

not exactly elegant but I couldnt find a way for xrandr to report that the
output is deactivated and so only run it when required. However so far
running the command every minute has not causes any glitches and except for
being patient for up to a minute doesnt require my SO to do anything new...

Yes it uninstalled MythTV for me also. I reinstalled by doing a sudo
apt-get install mythtv and then tried to fix by using the Mythbuntu Control
Centre application. I ended up with apt-get saying there was a serious
problem with the backend package. I removed and tried again, fixed error
but still couldn't get it to work. The only thing I didn't check was the
xml file that has the username and password used to connect to the database
perhaps that was reset with all the reinstalling.

Well I was going to pipe in that I've been using SCRpms packages on Centos 6
for quite awhile now. But there he is!

Hey, Stephen, I'm a bit confused about the qt requirements for Myth 0.28 on
CentOS 7. Last time I looked you had qt4 packages in your repo. It's been
said here that one needs qt5. What is the requirement?

Checking my Centos 7 host, I see qt 4.8.5 is provided by "upstream."

It appears that a fix has been committed to the latest development version
of xfce4-settings. I am not sure if installing this has no unwanted side
effects, but I installed it. It appears to be working except if the TV is
turned on after booting, the display is shrunken to about half size. If the
TV is on before booting, and if I switch the input away and then back to the
hdmi input, it appears to working fine.

Based on
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-graphics-drivers-331/+bug/1
308105/comments/107, here is what I did using Mythbuntu 16.04:

$ sudo apt-get install xfce4-dev-tools libexo-1-dev libgarcon-1-0-dev
libxfce4ui-1-dev libxklavier-dev $ git clone
git://git.xfce.org/xfce/xfce4-settings
$ cd xfce4-settings
$ ./autogen.sh --prefix=/usr --enable-pluggable-dialogs --enable-libxklavier
$ make $ sudo make install
