[mythtv-users] Running MythTV on CentOS ir-keytable

Thought this might be a good thread to ask about IR remote controls for a
CentOS 6.6 machine.

Q1 ) does anyone have ir-keytable compiled for 6.6 where scan codes
that start with 0x8???????? (that is a hex code starting with 8 and
followed by 7 digits) doesn't result in an "Invalid argument"? My two
media center edition, mce remotes have scan codes that start with this high
value.

Seems my installed version from v4l-utils is has a bug.

Q2) Is there a known rpm somewhere that works?

My upgrade from fine working Fedora 12 with LIRC recognizing 3 remotes
(most importantly the remote that came with the plasma TV) has been a
disaster. I finally gave up on LIRC on centOS thinking the ir-keytable
would work, it sort-of works. Hours and hours have been spent trying to
get back functionality that I previous enjoyed and took for granted. I
thought going to centOS would give me stability. Nothing but a headache.

Q3) What might I all need to compile ir-keytable?

Not really what I want to do but I've now hit my 20th dead end in my months
long quest to get a working Myth setup on centOS.

 OUTPUT:

[rod at trs Downloads]$ sudo ir-keytable -r -k 0x800f0423=KEY_ESC
Setting scancode 0x800f0423 with 0x0001 via EVIOCSKEYCODE: Invalid argument
Wrote 1 keycode(s) to driver
scancode 0x0000 = KEY_ESC (0x01)
Enabled protocols: RC-6
