Depending the the specific STB (and depending on how your provider
"improves" the STB firmware, or the next STB your provider give you
the next time you need to upgrade/exchange/repair your existing device),
firewire has either had good, bad, or ugly results when changing
channels.  It has been years, but I think I heard mixed reports for the
SA 4640HDC (and I have no idea if the root cause was the STB, the
providers firmware, the OS firewire drivers, or operator experience).
