[mythtv-users] take 2: configuring myth for fta (north america)

i have posted earlier about this but had to deal with other "irl" issues
soon after, preventing
me from putting as much time & effort as i should have.

i can now try again, hoping to solve what i feel is a "pebkac" issue, as i
am sure that the
root of the problem is incorrectly specified parameters to get mythtv to
properly scan some fta
sats.

to recap, in a nutshell: have built what i hope will be a pvr to record pbs
fta programming. am using the latest version of mythbuntu (14.04), or
win8.1 (for validation the hardware works
and the sat can indeed be scanned), depending on the hard drive inserted in
the machine.

the fta tuner is a tbs 6982 (
http://www.tbsdtv.com/products/tbs6982-dvb-s2-dual-tuner-pcie-card.html).

have two dishes, each with a universal lnb, one pointed to 125w, the other
to 87w.
the dishes are connected to a living-room fta receiver (geosatpro microhd)
through a 4 port diseqc
switch (
http://worldwidesatellites.com/4x1-best-germany-diseqc-switch-bhigh-qualityb-p-787.html).
a second coax run from each dish goes to the pc that i talk about in this
e-mail/posting, through its own diseqc switch (same brand).

i have been somewhat successful in win8.1, either sat can be scanned and i
can "play" the channels that have been identified.

on myth, i have had less success. myth sees something, but cannot lock on
the signal and scan in the channels. this happens on both sat. below are
the parameters i have based my entries on:

lnb type: avenger universal pll (dual outputs).
    (
http://worldwidesatellites.com/avenger-pll322s-twin-ku-pll-lnbf-p-700.html)

sat and transponder:
(125w)
    tp freq.: 12180
    polarity: vertical
    symbol rate: 3000
    mod sys: dvb-s2
    fec: 3/4
    modulation: 8psk

(87w)
    tp freq.: 11812
    polarity: h
    symbol rate: 11149
    mod. sys.: dvb-s2
    fec: 3/5
    modulaton: 8psk

here are links for 3 screenshots of the parameters used in mythtv.

"inversion" and "roll-off" were set to "auto", since i don't know what
proper values should be.

so i know the dishes are properly aligned and all, as i can use the living
room receiver to watch pbs. i also know the cabling to the pc and the
machine itself work, as i've had some success in win8.1. i'm trying to
eliminate the possibility that i simply didn't set something quite right in
myth. quite sure it's fairly obvious, but i can't quite see it.

so does anyone see what is my (stupid) mistake?
thanks.
