As long as it actually does last ! Sadly it seems that these days there are two problems :
a) A lot of kit is as "well engineered" as it used to be
and b) when it does break down, it's often not economically repaired
But yes, as long as it either doesn't break, or it's economically repairable when it does, then it's probably a decent investment.
There is of course the third issue :
Will it play the 4k content that comes along next year, the year after, the year after that ?
I suppose if you are using a STB (whether that's the games console, a cable provider's box, or a MythTV box) it probably doesn't matter - too much ! But for many people, having a TV that can't show half the broadcast material is a bit of a downer.
