Hello all again,

Thank you for your colorfull responses.

People please at least try to be polite, the myth devs do a lot of good work.

Please try to be polite and thank them for all the hard work they have
put in for FREE for you to use.

Mythtv is very open and can be adjusted if you take the time it does
everything you want it to.

I've used it for many years and would really like to give a big THANK
YOU to all the myth devs and all the people who have contributed to
the mythtv project.
I've enjoyed the use of mythtv and the tweaking of it to get it to do
what I want it to do.

Currently I'm trying to tweak mythtv into doing something else than
the default music.

So far I've got several responses worth considering.

* squeezebox, nice got one in the kitchen, however integrating it into
the living room frontend is a bit of a time concuming challenge.
* mpd, sounds nice but it requires another device for controlling it
in the living room.
( which I personally seriously object to, I already have enough
remotes, my kids won't get any smartphones soon )
* Something with apple....NO!!! (veto from me, not open for discussion)
* totem....hmmm never liked it, but I'll give it a try, any
documentation on how to integrated it in a mythtv frontend ?
* kodi, also a very serious option, however also time consuming to
tweak and tune. ( I've got a very limited amount of spare time )

Things I wish I had time for :
* learn how to program c/python/ruby/java and rewrite the music backend myself
* create a design for an interface that does work (according to me)

Cheers
Rob
