There are settings that you can adjust in Front end>Set up>Playback>2nd
page, that might help you see this wiki:
https://www.mythtv.org/wiki/User_Manual:Detailed_configuration_Frontend#General_Playback_.282.2F8.2

I do not know if this will effect recording playback only though.
