[mythtv-users] Schedules Direct - Cliff's Notes?

For Gracenote/Tribune Media Services's other clients, service changes are totally transparent to their end users. Unlike those other clients,
SD's end users directly control their applications and don't stay current with updates, so we can't "force" an update to the application.

Heck, SD doesn't even control the applications. We've been trying to get devs to develop JSON interfaces for months, but couldn't get any traction.
We didn't want to trigger a panic and we didn't know until recently when a shutdown would happen. It's tricky when the vast majority of the user
base are not the developers who can do something about it... very easy to insight panic.

Neither the SD-Tribune contract nor the SD user agreement specifies DNS names or IP addresses. If an app has them hard coded (most if not all do),
changes could be required.

Could we (SD) have done better? Always. I still think we're still doing ok.

Do we anticipate major problems for end-users? It's not looking like it. Downloads may fail, they go to the SD web page and will see a note about
editing their hosts file or upgrading their applications. Like I said earlier... changes are coming, no reason to panic :)
