How are you setting the value for "useonairguide"?  You need to shut 
down (all) mythbackend (instances on all hosts) and run mythtv-setup and 
change the "Use on air guide" setting, then restart your mythbackend.  
If you're poking values directly into the database using, for example, 
the mysql tools or MythWeb's channel editor (which I'm guessing you're 
doing based on your calling it "useonairguide"), changing it won't have 
any effect.  At minimum, you must restart every single mythbackend instance.
