[mythtv-users] RNG-110 cable box and firewire channel changing

I recently switched from Directv to cable and I am running into problems
setting up channel changing on the RNG-110 box that is hooked up to a
HDPVR. I have a PCI firewire card connected to the box but I can't seem to
get any response from the box's firewire port. When the cable box is
plugged into the computer dmesg reports the following:

[  216.596318] firewire_core 0000:01:06.0: created device fw0: GUID
00110666455568ec, S400
[  233.184333] firewire_core 0000:01:06.0: phy config: new root=ffc1,
gap_count=5
[  242.990448] firewire_core 0000:01:06.0: phy config: new root=ffc1,
gap_count=5
[  250.863730] firewire_core 0000:01:06.0: phy config: new root=ffc1,
gap_count=5
[  267.022931] firewire_core 0000:01:06.0: giving up on node ffc0: reading
config rom failed: no ack

When I run plugreport this is the output:

Host Adapter 0
==============

Node 0 GUID 0x0000000000000000
------------------------------
libiec61883 error: error reading oMPR
libiec61883 error: error reading iMPR

>From other posts I have seen it seems like there should be more information
there under node 1. I have compiled 6200ch and mythchanger and neither
seem to be able to interact with the box. 6200ch freezes in an unkillable
state and mythchanger just reports "Invalid changer option". I can see
from the wiki that other users have successfully changed channels and
recorded over firewire with this box so am I just doing something wrong or
does my cable company have the firewire port disabled? Any pointers
anybody can give me would be useful, I have used Myth for years but this is
my first foray into firewire.
