I recently went from mythbuntu 11.10 to 12.04 and mythtv 0.24 to mythtv 0.27. The system consists of one BE with an HDPVR, an HDHR (OTA), and a couple of DVB cards (OTA). and 2 frontends. I did it in stages, first the underlying os and mythtv to 0.25 then mythtv to 0.26 then finally mythtv to 0.27. It went really smoothly. The only real problem I had was my tv listings in guide got their times messed up and one of the database schema upgrades (to 1304) failed due to a duplicate entry in the recordedprogram table. Thankfully, the mythbackend log told me exactly what the problem was! So I manually removed the offending entry (meh, it was an episode of "The Big Bang Theory" I'm sure I'll record it again sometime) and the schema was able to update. With the listings, I just ran mythfilldatabase with the dd-grab-all parm and that seemed to fix the listings time problem.
So next will be to upgrade the system at my vac home. That's ones more complicated as it has the FTA satellite and motor controlling slave backends. It's also got older, slower (though lower power) hardware.
So thanks for this update! This time maybe I'll try not to fall so far behind!
Amy
